Emergency button
Emergency button for seniors: on the wall, around the neck, or both
An SOS button by the bed and in the bathroom, or a pendant. A press sends an alert to the family's phones. And because a button only helps when someone presses it, we build mainly on sensors in the flat that don't wait for a press.
Three ways
Button, pendant and sensors
Each solves something different. They work best together.
Wall button
Fixed where it is needed: by the bed, by the bath, in the toilet. Nothing to charge and nothing to wear. A press sends an alert to the family's phones.
Pendant for the neck or wrist
It is with the person anywhere in the flat, even where no button hangs. But it only helps someone who actually wears it — on the bedside table it does nothing.
Sensors that don't wait for a press
A button works only when someone presses it. Motion and presence sensors notice what nobody got to press — for example presence in the bathroom but no movement for twenty minutes.
Comparison
Klidně Doma button, telecare service, or a watch?
Honestly, including what we don't do.
| Feature | Klidně Doma | Telecare service | SOS watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who gets the message | The family's phones (you, siblings, a neighbour — whoever you add) | An operator at the telecare service, who then calls you or the ambulance | The numbers you set, as a call or SMS depending on the model |
| When nobody presses | Sensors in the flat send an alert based on what is (or isn't) happening | Depends on the provider — some offer sensors too | Nothing, unless the watch has its own sensors |
| Outside the home | No — this is a solution for the home | Depends on the provider and device | Yes, that is their strength |
| Charging | Wall button no; battery sensors with status monitoring | Depends on the device | Every day or every few days |
| What the senior has to do | Nothing — except press when they want to call for help themselves | Wear the button and press it | Wear it, charge it and press it |
Telecare (tísňová péče) is a registered social service with a monitoring centre. Klidně Doma is a technology service: sensors in the flat and alerts for the family. You can have both.
Emergency button FAQ
Does the button call an ambulance?
No. A press sends an alert to the family's phones and you decide what to do. We are not an emergency line or a healthcare service. If you want an operator who answers the phone around the clock, look for a registered telecare social service (tísňová péče in Czech) — both can be used at the same time.
Who gets the alert after a press?
Everyone you add to the household in the app: children, grandchildren, a neighbour. Each person decides for themselves whether they want to receive alerts.
What if the senior can't or forgets to press it?
That is why we build on sensors, not on the button. Motion and presence sensors notice, for example, presence in the bathroom but no movement for twenty minutes, or that nothing moved anywhere by the usual morning hour. The button is an extra for moments when someone wants to call for help themselves.
Does it work without Wi-Fi?
Yes. The control unit has its own router with a SIM card. When there is internet at home it uses it; when it drops out or there is none at all, it sends over the mobile network.
Where should the button go?
Most often by the bed, by the bath or shower and in the toilet — where people most often need help and don't have a phone at hand. We suggest placement during the home visit based on the layout.
Is the button part of a package?
You add the wall button and the pendant in the configurator to any package, as many as you need. The core of every package is the sensors, which work without a press.
